- Nucleus
- Holds the cell’s DNA and controls its activities.
- Nucleolus
- The spot inside the nucleus where ribosomes are made.
- Chromatin
- The DNA and proteins inside the nucleus.
- Rough ER
- Membranes covered in ribosomes that make and move proteins.
- Smooth ER
- Membranes without ribosomes that make lipids.
- Ribosomes
- Tiny structures that build proteins.
- Cell wall
- A rigid layer of cellulose outside the membrane that supports and protects the plant cell.
- Cell membrane
- Sits just inside the cell wall and controls what enters and leaves the cell.
- Chloroplast
- Contains green chlorophyll and is where photosynthesis happens.
- Mitochondrion
- Releases energy from glucose by respiration.
- Golgi apparatus
- Packages proteins and sends them where they are needed.
- Large central vacuole
- A big sac of cell sap that keeps the cell firm and stores water and nutrients.
- Cytoplasm
- The fluid that fills the cell, where many chemical reactions happen.
